Melissa Wigger

Melissa (Thompson) Wigger, 56, of Anderson, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, April 20, 2012 in her home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 5, 1956 in Union City, a daughter of Robert and Larie (Moore) Thompson. Melissa graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in 1974 and married the love of her life, Steven Wigger, on May 24, 1975. She worked for Jack Gray, CPA in Anderson and Anderson Bank and Trust before serving as the Librarian at Union Bible College in Westfield for several years. She had a contagious smile and loved and prayed for many people. She served graciously with her husband as they pastored churches in Centerville, In, Bradford, Oh, and Muncie, Cowan and Anderson, In. In addition to her parents of Pendleton, she is survived by her husband of 36 years, Rev. Steven E. Wigger; four daughters, Christina (husband: Keith) Himelick of Curtisville, Rachel (husband: Micah) Himelick of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, Marjorie (husband: Derrick) Lane of Anderson and Elisabeth (husband: Rev. Mark) Heskett of Muncie; four grandchildren, Sharlenae, Logan, Jason and Dane Himelick; a brother, Mark Thompson of Anderson; a sister, Martisha (husband: Duane) Webb of Yorktown; her grandmother, Pearl Thompson of Winchester and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Nolan Thompson and Orus C. and Opal Moore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Memorial Wesleyan Church, 2701 N. Memorial Dr., New Castle with Rev. Rollin L. Mitchell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Union City Cemetery, 1408 W. Oak St., Union City, IN. Friends may call from 3 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sproles Family Funeral Home, 2400 S. Memorial Dr., New Castle, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the ICHA, for Kid’s Camp, P.O. Box 2288 Anderson, IN 46018. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
