Noel Coolidge Shelton

Noel Coolidge Shelton, 86, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Henry County Hospital. He was born November 24, 1924 in Somerset, Kentucky, a son of the late Dee and Nora Shelton. Noel was employed with Chrysler Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1974. He loved his church and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him much joy. He was a member of Westview Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years and helped build the new church where it is now located on State Road 38 West. He and his wife, Jewell, wintered in Okeechobee, Florida where he loved to fish and play horseshoes. He loved taking his family to the 38 Diner to eat and see his favorite waitress, Julie. He loved family dinners and his favorites were taco’s and fish. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and faithfully mowed the church lawn for many years. He will be missed by his faithful dog, Oreo. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years, Jewell (McClurg) Shelton; a daughter, Connie (husband: Robert) Montgomery of New Castle; six grandchildren, Candace Alderson of Nashville, Tennessee, Danny (wife: Robin) Shelton Jr. of Fishers, Katina (husband: Mike) Gwaltney of Greenfield, Rick Alderson of New Castle, Bob Montgomery Jr.(wife: Laura) of Indianapolis and Michael Reeves and family of New Castle; great-grandchildren, Misty (husband: Keith) Davis of Ripley, Tennessee, Kelsay and Shelby Alderson of New Castle, Teagan and Will Gwaltney of Greenfield, Taylor and Mitchel Shelton of Fishers and Luke Montgomery of Indianapolis; two great-great-grandchildren, Mack and Kallee Davis of Nashville, Tennessee, three brothers, Don (wife: Carol) Shelton of New Castle, Lloyd (wife: Virginia) Shelton of Florida and Ardell (wife: Marie) Shelton of Kentucky; a daughter-in-law, Vonda (husband: Ron) Davidson of New Castle and several nieces and nephews. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Danny Shelton; three brothers, George, Robert and Edgel Shelton and two sisters, Mabel Neal and Helen Keith. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Westview Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Paul Riddle officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5- 8 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at Sproles Family Funeral Home and one hour prior the service at the church on Saturday.
