Peggy Bell

Peggy S. Bell, of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, July 29, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 11, 1934 in Bell Farm, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Phillips) Sexton. Peggy was a 1952 graduate of Muncie Central High School. She was employed by the Muncie Auto Auction for over 30 years where she served as Office Manager. Peggy’s life was centered around her church, Old Town Hill Southern Baptist Church. She was a faithful member there for over 70 years and served as the Sunday School Secretary, was a member of the Red Hats, member of the visitation committee, and sang in the choir. She and her husband, Vernon, enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her brothers, sisters, and their spouses. Most of all, Peggy loved spending time with her family. Those left to cherish Peggy’s memory include her children, Cathy Lynn Anderson and Mark (Tammy) Bell of Muncie; her grandchildren, Ashley (Peter) Montgomery, Kyle (Courtney) Bell, and Brock (Mackenzie) Bell; her great-grandchildren, Kohen, Deacon, and Maclaren Bell; sister-in-law Clara Sexton, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Vernon Bell in 2019; son-in-law Steve Anderson; her brothers, Hollie Sexton, Dester Sexton, Johnnie Sexton, Harold Sexton, and Roger Sexton along with her sisters, Pauline Sparks, Louise Terry, Betty Jo Campbell, and Jacquelyn Alexander. The family would like to thank IU Hospice and Home Instead caregivers for their special care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Old Town Hill Southern Baptist Church, 3000 S. Burlington Dr. Muncie, IN with Dr. Damon Jones officiating and Pastor Bruce Reynolds along with Peggy’s nephews, Pastor Andy Phipps, Jr. and Pastor Mark Sewell. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm Tuesday at the church. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests they be offered to the Building Fund at Old Town Hill Southern Baptist Church.
