Robert Alan Custer

Robert A. Custer, 60, of Winchester, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on, Thursday, August 19, 2021, following his long battle with cancer. He was born on August 20, 1960 in Lima, Ohio, the Son of the late Robert E. Custer and Neta Thompson. Robert loved making other’s laugh with his fun energetic and overly animated stories. He loved music and playing his beloved guitar. Robert would say music “spoke to his soul”. He worked in the flooring industry for forty-four years. Robert loved installing carpet, tile showers, and backsplashes. He found joy in making others happy and was always so respectful to others. Robert loved to cut out different types of animal shapes out of carpet and give them to people. Everyone loved his creative side. Robert loved food and would never back down from any eating challenge. He loved the Lord with all his heart. For a short time, Robert helped minister with the Gideon’s in the jail ministry at Randolph County. Robert used the time that he was battling cancer to really seek God and grow closer to him. Robert married the love of his life, Karri Custer on June 28, 2014, where he gained two children, David and Tiffany, which he loved dearly. Robert worked very hard to make sure that they had everything they needed. He loved to travel, especially going to Gatlinburg Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida. Robert also enjoyed going on cruises with Kari and the all-you-can-eat buffets on the ships. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Karri Custer; step-son, David Renner of Lawrence, IN; daughter, Tiffany (David) Miller of Laurel, IN; mother-in-law, Sherry McCord of St. Henry, OH; sisters, Ronda Arnett, Pauline McElroy and Vicky (Mark) Leist all of Lima, OH; nieces, Kimberly Haver and Paulina Haver both of Lima, OH and great-niece, Ivory Saco. Those waiting to welcome him home are his father, Robert E. Custer and mother, Neta Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Randolph Friends Church 6531 N 300 W, Ridgeville, IN 47380 with Pastor Jonathan Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Lawndale Cemetery in Ridgeville. Friends may call from 6 – 8 pm, Tuesday evening at the church and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
