Tameka Cope

Tameka Cope, 50, of Yorktown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Delaware County. She was born on June 4, 1975, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of the late Junior L. and Sheila Kay (Coffman) Cope. Tameka was a 1994 graduate of Yorktown High School and later attended PJ’s Beauty School. She was an ordained minister and most recently worked as a hospice caregiver with Senior Living, where her compassionate heart and caring nature allowed her to provide comfort and support to those in their final days. Tameka was full of life and energy. Sassy, outgoing, and often the life of the party, she had a way of making any moment more enjoyable—whether it was a simple trip to Walmart or an evening out with friends. Her vibrant personality and quick smile made people feel at ease, and her kindness and big heart meant she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed playing pool and participated in many leagues over the years, even competing in Las Vegas. Tameka also loved to travel, especially trips to the ocean, and treasured time spent camping and relaxing at her RV at Heartland Campground in Alexandria. She had a special love for her bulldogs, who were always close to her heart. Above all, Tameka cherished her family. She was a devoted mother and proud grandmother who loved spending time with those she held dear. Those left to honor and cherish Tameka’s memory include her daughter, Aabriey Viellieux (Kristopher Baker) of Yorktown; three grandchildren, Laylaa Cope, Kenzleigh Baker, and Kingston Baker; three sisters, Jennifer (Dannie) Ransom of Muncie, Amy Lee of Chicago, and Melissa Bowen of Chicago; and several beloved nieces and nephews, Hannah Sorrels, Jay Ransom, Brianna Baker, Camden Lee, Gavin Hibbing, and Payton Hibbing. In addition to her parents, Tameka was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alivia Viellieux; a grandson, Junior Viellieux; an aunt, Sandy Coffman; a special cousin, Mike Coffman; and a brother-in-law, Steven Bowen. A service to celebrate Tameka’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with calling from 11:00 am until the time of service.
